BOULOGNE-BILLANCOURT, France, October 29, 2026 — Renault Group reported that its European electric passenger-car sales rose 84.7% year on year in the third quarter of 2026. Battery-electric vehicles accounted for 25.8% of the Group’s European passenger-car sales over the period, an increase of 12.2 percentage points compared with the corresponding quarter in 2025.
The figures appeared in Renault Group’s October 29 revenue statement. They refer to the company’s European passenger-car sales and should not be interpreted as a worldwide increase across all vehicle powertrains.
Electric cars account for more than one-quarter of quarterly sales
Renault Group said the shift towards battery-electric vehicles accelerated in European markets during July–September. When hybrid-electric and plug-in hybrid passenger cars are also included, electrified models represented 54.9% of the Group’s European passenger-car sales in the quarter.
Over the first nine months of 2026, Group electric-car sales in Europe rose 59.4% compared with the same period in 2025. Fully electric vehicles represented 20.9% of passenger cars sold during the January–September period, according to the company.
Renault brand reports stronger EV growth
For the Renault brand alone, European electric passenger-car sales increased by 75.2% over the nine months. Renault said electrified vehicles, including its full-hybrid range, accounted for 68.0% of the brand’s European passenger-car sales at the end of September.
The company identified its renewed electric range as a contributor to the results. The Renault Twingo E-Tech electric recorded almost 26,000 sales since its launch and held the leading position in its European electric A-segment in the third quarter, according to Renault.
The manufacturer’s product plan for the second half of the year also includes the updated Megane E-Tech electric and the Trafic Van E-Tech electric, alongside hybrid models from Renault and Dacia. These vehicles are distinct powertrain categories and are not all classified as battery-electric passenger cars.
Overall quarterly sales and revenue
Despite the growth in electric-car sales, Renault Group’s overall third-quarter vehicle sales across its brands and regions declined 6.0% to 497,799 units. The Group reported quarterly revenue of €11.596 billion, up 1.5% compared with the third quarter of 2025.
For January–September 2026, total Group sales across passenger and light commercial vehicles were 1,662,222, down 2.2% from a year earlier. The company maintained its 2026 financial outlook, including an operating margin target of around 5.5% of Group revenue.
