FAW-Volkswagen launched the Jetta M6 electric sedan in China on 22 October 2026, marking the Jetta brand’s first mass-produced battery-electric passenger car. The model is offered in three versions, with a starting price of 79,800 yuan and a maximum manufacturer-stated driving range of 555 kilometres under China’s CLTC testing cycle.

Jetta M6 prices and versions in China

The launch range consists of the 465 Pro, 555 Max and 555 Ultra. The two lower versions are priced 1,000 yuan below the corresponding pre-sale prices announced in September. All three listed prices apply to the Chinese domestic market.

Model Chinese launch price CLTC driving range
Jetta M6 465 Pro 79,800 yuan 465 km
Jetta M6 555 Max 89,800 yuan 555 km
Jetta M6 555 Ultra 99,800 yuan 555 km

The M6 is part of the Jetta brand operated by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. It uses a dedicated electric architecture developed for the Chinese market. The model introduces an all-electric sedan to a Jetta range previously focused on combustion-powered vehicles.

Electric motor, battery and charging specifications

The front-wheel-drive sedan uses a single front-mounted electric motor. Depending on the variant, its maximum output is 113 kW or 145 kW, with corresponding peak torque figures of 230 Nm and 260 Nm. The higher-output version is quoted at 6.8 seconds for acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h, while the lower-output configuration is rated at 8.3 seconds.

The Jetta M6 uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by CALB. Published specifications list battery capacities of 42.9 kWh and 51.9 kWh, matched to the 465 km and 555 km CLTC versions. Manufacturer-provided figures include minimum combined energy consumption of 10.5 kWh per 100 km and a 30-to-80% DC charging interval of around 25 minutes under specified charging conditions.

These range figures are based on the CLTC standard used in China and should not be interpreted as directly equivalent to WLTP or EPA ratings.

Dimensions, cabin and driver-assistance technology

The Jetta M6 measures 4,806 mm long and 1,500 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. Its body width varies between 1,868 mm and 1,895 mm according to specification. The exterior features a sloping roofline, narrow headlights, a full-width rear light arrangement and a selection of six colours. The manufacturer lists a 542-litre luggage compartment.

Inside, the sedan includes a digital instrument display and a 15.6-inch central screen with a 2.5K resolution. Connectivity functions include smartphone integration, while equipment such as heated or ventilated seats and enhanced parking systems depends on the version.

The highest-specification 555 Ultra features Horizon Robotics’ Journey 6M chip and advanced driver-assistance functions covering highway and urban navigation assistance and automated parking. These are driver-assistance functions, not a declaration of fully autonomous driving. The relevant features and availability depend on configuration and software.

Launch response

According to information reported by local authorities in Chengdu on 23 October, the new electric sedan recorded more than 10,000 locked orders within 19 hours of its Chinese launch. The figure represents reported orders, rather than completed customer deliveries.
