IRVINE, California, October 29, 2026 — Rivian Automotive reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $2.155 billion, up 38% from a year earlier, as deliveries rose and its R2 electric SUV became the company’s best-selling vehicle by volume.
The US electric-vehicle manufacturer delivered 19,248 vehicles in the quarter ending September 30, an increase of 46% from the comparable period a year earlier. Production at its Normal, Illinois, factory totaled 19,751 vehicles. Rivian said the R2 outsold both its R1 vehicle range and electric delivery van lineup during the quarter.
Revenue by business segment
Rivian recorded automotive revenue of $1.550 billion, an increase of 36% year over year. The company attributed the rise primarily to increased vehicle deliveries and higher revenue from regulatory credits, partly offset by a lower average selling price associated with a larger proportion of R2 and commercial-van deliveries.
Revenue from software and services reached $605 million, a 45% year-over-year increase. Rivian reported that $354 million of this segment’s revenue was attributable to its joint venture with Volkswagen Group. Software and services activities also included vehicle electrical architecture development, maintenance, repair and Autonomy+ offerings.
R2 manufacturing and deliveries
Rivian said production volumes at its Normal facility reached a record as it continued to increase R2 manufacturing. The company did not publish a separate unit-delivery total for the R2 in its main quarterly announcement, but confirmed that the model accounted for the highest volume among its vehicle lines.
2026 delivery forecast raised
Following the third-quarter results, Rivian increased its full-year vehicle delivery outlook to 67,000–70,000 units, compared with the previous forecast of 65,000–70,000. It also updated its adjusted EBITDA outlook to a loss of $1.75 billion–$1.85 billion and its capital expenditure outlook to $1.40 billion–$1.50 billion.
Rivian also described ongoing development of its driver-assistance and software systems, including the Rivian Assistant and Autonomy+ service. The company said its October over-the-air update added Gmail integration to Rivian Assistant and introduced an annual Halloween Mode feature.
